La evolución de la medicina ha hecho que, superadas en general sus dos objetivos primarios de tratar la enfermedad y prevenirla, se enfrente ahora con el que constituye su gran reto en los países desarrollados: la promoción de la salud.
Podemos definir la medicina antienvejecimiento como un sistema integral, preventivo y curativo, que a partir del estudio del envejecimiento natural, descarta los factores perjudiciales que producen un envejecimiento prematuro, propone un sistema de vida de promoción de la salud, y aplica las técnicas correctoras y los signos estéticos y orgánicos de decaimiento corporal.
Evolution of medicine has accomplished its two primary goals of treating and preventing diseases through out the years. The big challenge to face now in developed countries is health promotion.
We can define anti-aging medicine as an integral, preventive and curative system, which comes from the study of the natural aging process, dismissing harmful factors that cause premature aging, proposes a life system based on health promotion, and applies corrective techniques to organic and aesthetic signs of bodily decay.
